Data Center Hosting

How can I understand ,where is my hosting (data center)?

Go to netcraft.com and enter your sight in the box (top left) that says What's that site running?...

hello how can i share my torrent links to my host or another data center?

http://www.bittorrent.com/publish or just go to any torrent site and find a link which says add torrent or publish torrent.

For data center with 10000 Linux computers, is it possible to install OS to all hosts at the same tim?

You could trigger a massive network boot, so yes, it is possable if the systems all need to be set up the same way

how to find where a website is hosted ? I want to find out the ISP/data center for a website.?
I want to find out the ISP/data center for a website.

Ping theDomainName.com from Command Prompt that will give you the IP address. For instance: C:\>ping yahoo.com Pinging yahoo.com [66.94.234.13] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 66.94.234.13: bytes=32 time=91ms TTL=52 Then go to http://www.arin.net/whois/ and enter that IP address and hit SUBMIT QUERY Then try entering 66.94.234.13 to get: OrgName: Yahoo! How to setup a web server in a Data center?
I’ve been doing web dev for a few years now with my sites being hosted on a shared server.I'm getting a dedicated machine, but a voice in my head is saying "do it yourself." I’ll have my own server & a possibility of having resellers. My educational background is in Sys Admin,so I have a understanding of what's needed to setup, secure & maintain systems, but I still need some info. I've come up with a very basic plan of what I think is required: 1. Get a server + setup software (Debian / Redhat + Antivirus? + Network Security? + PHP / MYSQL etc + Cpanel / WHM) 2. Find a data center 3. Find a Teleco to connect the server to the net 4. Maintain system (security+performance) with patches & software updates Although I need to do more research for step 1 & 4,my main concern is 2 & 3.What do I ask the DC & Telco?Do I setup the server offsite, then send it to the DC for them to connect,or do I personally go in & do it myself? When calling the Telco, what info should I have on hand?

You won't need to find a telco, if you're going to colocate. You simply need to find a colo facility, and they will provide the telco for you. This is better for you, in that most colos will have a fat pipe to mulitple telcos and routers that provide redundancy. I'm part of a coop that owns a server where we run virtual linux instances under UML, and using this technique we were able to bring our costs down to around $150/year, so I'd agree the economy is there, if you're willing to do the research. One thing to work out for yourself is how you'll handle issues with the box, for example, if it needs a reboot, what if it doesn't come back up cleanly and you can't get to it?

What is a simple router (or switch?) to use for setting up a rack in a datacenter?
I am trying to setup a rack (colocation) in a data center. It comes with an ethernet port. What device should I get to move trafic from the port to the computers I'd like to put in the rack? And can I use this device to assign the individual IP addresses the data hosting company gives me?

If all your looking for is data connectivity then a simple hub would be sufficient. A switch would be better but $$$ is a concern. Do you have a single point of entry? the ethernet port? and from there you have to give everything in your rack an IP? If thats the case, then I am going to guess that your going to need something with multiple ports. You will need this so that you can take the input from the ethernet port (some IP address) and NAT that over to your inside address range. Your going to need to set up NAT, maybe PAT depending on what your looking to do. Depending on the amount of data your pushing you might get by with a low end 2600 Cisco router, with the proper feature set for some security. But then again this is all speculation based on the limited amount of detail you have provided.

how to setting up a data center?
Hello, I am looking to set up a data-centre in the UK (i'm british) I really want to run my own company, ect, but, i need to know the basics of it all. I know all about servers, vps, hosting, domains, ect.. all from other datacentres, but what about starting one? If you have, MSN, AIM, or YIM, it would be great if we can talk about the best ways of setting up. my questions What are the top 3 datacentre connect Connectivities, around? best type of servers to get to start of with, blade/rack/tower Would i need to have security staff on shift 24/7 would i need technicians on site 24/7 My MSN account, gaogier@runehints.com my AIM account, gaogier my YIM account, gaogier some may say this belongs in the business category, but i am not asking how to run it, im asking for advise on types of servers, networking, and technicians with one off topic which is security

OMG your asking this question here..... Really..... Have you not heard of IRC suggest you get Mirc and find suitable channel

Servers cannot see each other's sites (networking)?
I have 3 Servers All Hosting Websites, no domains or anything, all three have static IP addresses ServerA - Hosted at data center ServerB - Hosted at same data center consecutive IP addresses BackupServer - Run from my house I just replaced ServerA with a new machine. Before the switch all three servers talked to each other and could see the websites run on any of the servers. After the switch BackupServer and ServerA cannot see or communicate with each other at all. I.e. BackupServer cannot open the site hosted on ServerA and vice versa. BackupServer can see ServerB's site and vice versa. ServerB can see ServerA's site and vice versa. All other machines can see the sites of all three servers so the sites seem to be operating normally. Can anyone give me any idea of settings, configurations or anything I could possibly look at to explain the lack of connection between ServerA and BackupServer? Any pointers would be very helpful! Thanks much. All 3 servers are running Windows 2003 Server

With no domains, it's not a "trust" issue. Trust relationships can only be established via domain. It's probably a security issue. Check your account settings. Does the account you're using on Backup Server have permissions to log on remotely to ServerA? Permission to log on through terminal services? Permission to log on locally (doubtful this is the problem). Is ServerA blocking access from BackupServer by IP address or MAC address? It's almost certainly a lack of permissions on the account you're using to try to access A from Backup. Failing that, A is blocking access from Backup. Since the permissions between A and B are functioning, verify you have the same permissions between A and backup. (I'm assuming you made no changes to your firewall, and the IP address of A is the same as the old A).

how to host a busy website with high traffic?
We are launching a web site that potentially will have high traffic with users registration. Is it better to host it with a web-hosting company or its better to own some space in data centers with some (or lot of) expense? Any advice with cost and strategy would be appreciated. If i go with web-hosting company which is fast and reliable?

Another option is chrooted hosting on servers with good domain-to-server ratios. You get the usability of "standard" hosting with enterprise reliability, access and security. Google link below with some more info. Edit: Two chrooted hosting companies I'm familiar with are also included below - but I'm pretty sure they both show up high in the google results anyhow. Good luck!

What is the best way to get more performance out of my network?
We have 6 Hp 2524 10/100 autosensing managed switches connected to each other with the gigabit uplink we have are router plugged into the first switch and servers plugged into the second switch. I have noticed that the further down the line the worse your performance gets. We have an exchange server that is hosted outside our office and some other web servers that we use have been moved to a data center as well...What would be the best way to get more performance with this... (Our switches use mini-gbics to link to each other) I have thought about an 8 port gigabit switch to have all the switches connect to? any thoughts or suggestions? Maybe I need to give more information... pretty much every port is filled up on every switch.. (a few ports not in use but very few... my calculations are 24 ports at 100 mbit = 2.4 gigabits useage per switch...) I need some better ideas on getting more performance....

Gigabit switches will only improve performance if the servers and clients have gb network cards in them. You can use network moitoring software like lan hound to find network bottle necks. http://www.lyonware.co.uk/Lanhound.htm
