It should say while you're playing. (i.e. Blip saying "World of Warcraft" mod) Also, if you don't have the mod, you can see the file name while you're downloading it before you head into the actual server/game. If you're just clueless, don't be shy, ask.

There is no way of editing a file to unban yourself. The server admins have either put a ban on your ip address or most likely your GUID which is unique to your computer. As a member of a BF 2142 clan myself the best way of getting un-banned is to visit the server's website and appeal your ban on their forum and say sorry for whatever you did.

putting my CSS server online?
hi, i have recently made a CSS map and wish to play it online with my friends, however i do not know how to as when i host its always on LAN, cld someone please tell me how to put my server online for my friends to join, tyvm ^^

Hope you have a good connection, running your comp as a server while you play with friends would usually rasie your ping. I use to do it but since I stopped playing CAL got stupid.It took me some time but if you do a google search for running your computer as a dedicated server for css then you'll find a lot of good guides to help you out. Don't forget to get ManiAdmin so you can at least give commands or let other friends be admins too.

Number Of Players on CSS Server?
If you ever played CSS, youd know that a lot of servers are listed as 60 player servers, yet none of them really do have that many players... My question how did they manage to do that? How do you trick the game into thinking you have more players than you actually do?

Maybe bad server info refresh. They can have set the amount of player slots to 60 and they can have there bots playing and after a player connects then some fof the bots disconnect and the overall player coumnt decreases.

CSS server? you mean a server that hosts Cascading Style Sheets? For web hosting, then just forward the TCP port 80. If you are hosting a game server , check the game documentation, and it may tell you what port numbers and what protocol to forward(TCP or UDP).
