Problems With My CPanel Webhosting Provider - Help Required?
Hello all, dont know if anyone can help me out, but I am having problems logging into my CPanel webhosting account. I get my website hosted by a company called Still Host, and up until yesterday it was all working fine, but today I cant log into either my control panel or e-mail accounts. It is coming back with a heap of text on the screen like "A fatal error or timeout occured while processing the directive". I have tried on several occasions to sumbit a ticket to my provider (Still Host) but as yet no reply or answer. Does anyone else out there have an account with Still Host or use a CPanel account that is having the same problems as me? I want to log in to change some info on my website but cant, due to this happening. Is there another way of logging in? Thanks in advance for any advice given

switch your Host to www.sdhinternet.com have been with them for years and had no problems whatsoever - free transfer of .co.uk domain names and £1 hosing when you use SNUK as code

How do I set up a proxy server on my webhosting?
Currently, I have a webhost with cPanel and unlimited bandwidth.

If you mean you want your server to act as a proxy server, you can do that via configuring your Apache server: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/mod/mod_proxy.html There are also PHP scripts that can route requests as a proxy: http://sourceforge.net/projects/php-proxy Keep in mind that if you run an open proxy, you are inviting people to abuse your service and there is a strong possibility you will be defending many lawsuits and getting lots of visits from law enforcement for what people do with your proxy.

Does anyone know about DNS details regarding webhosting, and if changes will affect emails.?
First of all, sorry about the question, its a bit abstract. My problem is that I need to changing the webhosting company for a client of mine, and I am unsure that if by modifying the DNS details to point to the new host will render the current email addresses of the client useless. Do I need to re-register the emails with the new hosting company? BTW the new host provides the Cpanel interface. Hope you can help!

The answer is, yes, changing your name servers will prevent the existing emails from functioning, if that's the only step you take. When you change name servers for a domain, you are switching that domain's zone file to whatever the zone file at the new host happens to be. By default, the zone file at the new host will specify their own server in the MX record. You have two options...migrate the email accounts to the new hosting *or* change the MX records on the new hosting to point back to the old hosting. I hope that wasn't too confusing!!

free webhosting with all feature?
i want free webhosting service with cpanel and all the feature

If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a "homepage" which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. And if you use the Netscape browser, the built-in Composer feature is a superior HTML authoring tool. You can easily generate a full-blown website as a Homepage. Nevertheless, the "homepage" URL is likely to be "http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscriber... name" and that URL can easily be overwritten via a redirection service, i.e., "mydomain.com" which allows you to link any registered domain name to "mask" another website. For example, should you type in "domainname.com", you will be immediately transported to the homepage and the hompage URL of http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscriber... name will be masked by the domainname.com. And the charge for the redirection service [even at godaddy.com] is normally FREE. Here's a demonstration: Type in the URL window: "www.pizzanextdoor.com" which will bring up their pizza website. Take note of the domain name. Then type in the URL window: "http://home.pacbell.net/vten/1a/pizzamen... and you will see that this is the original homepage which is unmasked without the domain name! Good luck!

Hello. question on webhosting servers?
I just signed up for a webhosting service that uses the cpanel user interface, in the left column, theres a link that says 'service status' under 'General server information'. When i clicked where it says 'click to view' it brings me to a page that displays the server status: Server Load 3.80 (2 cpus) 3.80 (2 cpus) Memory Used 27.9% Swap Used 2.62 % Disk /dev/sda5 (/) 15 % Disk /dev/mapper/vg1-lv1s (/backup) 74 % Disk /dev/sda7 (/tmp) 7 % Disk /dev/sda8 (/home) 98 % Disk /dev/sda1 (/boot) 18 % Disk /dev/sda2 (/usr) 47 % Disk /dev/sda3 (/var) 40 % can you plese explain what these data mean, also the light box beside. the 98%is always red. whereas everything else is green. should i be alarmed?thx

Each of the /dev/sda items represent a file system on the unix box. This is similar to the C: , D: drives in a PC. The /home filesystem that is 98% is usually where user programs and data are stored. Since there is no indication of how large the file system is to begin with it is difficult to determine if you should be alarmed that it is at 98%. If the file system is 100GB you have 2GB free and you might want to take a look into it. If it is 1000GB then you have 20GB free and you probably do not need to be concerned.

Webhosting?
I found a great hosting company, but at the moment they only have Linux web hosting. Im not sure if linux is another os or not. But i have windows xp. Will i still be able to register under linux web hosting or do i need a linux machine? If not can someone suggest a good, cheap hosting company that supports php, mysql and has a cpanel, and allows adult content. cheers

You can use linux web hosting but it is always better to use windows web hosting. I am using http://aplis.net/ you can also give them a try.

Where can I go to get free webhosting that allows mysql/php?
Ok the reason I am looking for free is not because I am cheap, its because I have -207 in my paypal and have been in negatives for about 4 months. Right now I am using 000webhost but at random times it doesnt allow some IPs to access the site. Including mine! I need a free site that has somewhere near as much space as 000webhost.com, allows mass email, allows mysql/php, and hopefully the old cpanel, but the cpanel isnt important. Right now Im looking into zymic.com but they havent sent me an activation email so I am starting to reconsider and find another webhost. Please do not answer with a webhost that is not free because it isnt an option for me.

I've been using Byet Internet Services' free hosting for a short time now, but so far I've been very satisfied with it. http://byethost.com/

C-panel? Internet pages not being displayed correctly?
Okay, here's my problem. My pc will go to pages such as yahoo.com and microsoft.com hotmail.com and so forth. But on some pages such as "http://www.google.com/" it comes up with this message: There is no website configured at this address. You are seeing this page because there is nothing configured for the site you have requested. If you think you are seeing this page in error, please contact the site administrator or datacenter responsible for this site. About cPanel: cPanel is a leading provider of software for the webhosting industry. If you would like to learn more about cPanel please visit our website at http://www.cpanel.net/. Please be advised that cPanel is not a webhosting company itself, and as such is not responsible for content found elsewhere on this site. It has never done this to me before, and I know google is just fine...any ideas?
