Cpanel Support

Is it possible to have one domain name, but have one host handle emails, and another handle the site?
I have a very reliable web host that I want to use to host my emails, but their control panel is low level. Meanwhile, I have another one that's not as reliable but with good cpanel support. I want to use the first for my emails and the other to run the website , but have them all for my one domain name. Is it possible?

yes, just need to edit your DNS records at your registar, point the web to the IPaddress of the host you want for web then point the MX record to the IP Address of the other host you want for email

Hi there, If you have the tar.gz files in your cPanel already have you tried just clicking on them (may require double click)? I know cPanel will unzip regular zip files in that fashion. If that doesn't or hasn't worked for you, go get this free program: http://www.extractnow.com/ Extract Now will unzip tar.gz extentions. You would need to do this on your computer that you have your files saved to obviously & not in cPanel. You simply drag your tar.gz package into Extract Now, click Extract and it will unzip them and put them in the same folder the gz is located in now unless you specify otherwise. Very easy and nice program. Then just upload/FTP your unzipped files to your new hosting account in: File Manager >> public_html If you need an FTP program, Filezilla is a very good one and also free. You can download it here: http://filezilla-project.org/ Yell if you need more help. You can contact me at wenchie(at)charter(dot)net if you need assistance.

How can I stop sites like Dizzler, dizzler.com, from playing my files and stealing my bandwidth?
Dizzler, and others, offer "free music" but in reality they are searching and playing songs posted elsewhere. The underlying issue here is that each time they play a song from my site it eats away MY bandwidth. They do all of this without even crediting my site. They are providing an advertiser supported service at my, and other's, expense. I've tried blocking their IP in cpanel and messed with the HotLinking blocks but to no avail. Can anyone help?

Brack Jaskey (brack@qwest.net) 15550 N 84th ST Scottsdale Arizona,85260 US Tel. +011.4805960610 Contact information for the owner of Dizzler.com. Do with it what you will. ;) You can block them via a .hta access file, which you can upload to your webserver. I would contact your ISP regarding it.

What's the best online host?
Both in price and quality, of course. The best host for me would have to have PHP support, cPanel and a mySQL server. Thanks!

I use OpenThoughtHosting.com. I don't know if they speficially use cPanel, but the control panel they do use is great. Check out their website for prices and features. http://www.openthoughthosting.com

Can I sue a web hosting company?
I have been getting little to no cooperation with my hosting company. They have experienced a hard disk failure, and I have been unable to access any of my information for 10 days. I have requested phone support, IM support, and I am still unable to access my information. I would like to find out if I can force them to cooperate with me until I have gotten all the information stored on their server, returned to me. The information and database is 100% mine, but I am unable to access any of it because I cannot get into the cpanel of my site. The company that I am having all the problems with is: TELA IT in Wilmington, DE. The owner, Andreas Horch, refuses to communicate and is not supplying the information needed to obtain access to our account. I highly recommend that you do not do business with this company!!!!!

you can file a suit against anyone... that was actually going to be a joke, but it appears that might actually be good advice in your case. what else can you do? you may be flat out of luck. back-ups are your only savior sometimes.

If you want to unpack them locally on Windows into a folder, get WinRAR ( http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm ). On Unix, you uncompress them using the following command: gunzip < file.tar.gz | tar xvf - To move them to another host, you'll just have to upload the folder recursively.

I have removed anti virus software and firewall cannot connect?
I cannot connect to IE 7 (see details below) Or Cpanel at my Hosting Acoount I am also getting repeated error that port 2082 is blocked by a firewall. How can there be a blockage if I have no firewall active? I have run search. Checked regedit. Nothing shows as either firewall and or anti virus. Last diagnostic run time: 11/01/08 14:30:54 Network Adapter Diagnostic Network location detection info Using home Internet connection info Redirecting user to support call HTTP, HTTPS, FTP Diagnostic HTTP, HTTPS, FTP connectivity info HTTP: Successfully connected to www.microsoft.com. info HTTPS: Successfully connected to www.microsoft.com. warn FTP (Passive): Error 12029 connecting to ftp.microsoft.com: A connection with the server could not be established error Could not make an FTP connection. How can I check if there is a firewall on the router. I did that got the same problem. It must be somewhere on my laptop but I be damned if I can find it Error: I could not see your service on 90.192.92.67 on port (2082) Reason: Connection timed out

So the Windows Firewall is down... What about any firewall you may have on a router? Edit: The easiest way is to simply connect your computer directly to the modem. Just unplug the cable going from the modem to the router and plug it into your computer. If it works then it's your router if it still continues to give you problems then it's something else and not the router.
