Cpanel Domain Hosting
Do I need a flash editing program?
I'm building a website for the very first time from scratch. I have a host, a domain, a ftp server, and now a flash template. Now I need to edit the flash template but I don't really think I need to change anything about the way the template looks. I like the template. I mainly want to edit the text and pics, change the link names and stuff like that. Can I just use an html editor in my cpanel from my host or to just get some kind of site builder that will work with my flash template? The Host Gator people say I will need to get a flash editor program. They are kind of pricey considering I've already put a lot of money into starting up my site. Can any one give me some advice? Please remember I'm new at this and don't quite understand all the computer language yet. It's still Greek to me.
yes to edit flash u will need to get macromedia/abode flash editor, yeah this can be rather expensive, and flash is not easy to learn for a beginner, there is another program out there called swish which is a lot easier to work with which i use myself rather than flash

Help with FTP FILES?
HI, I am novice at this but I really want to build my website and do as much on my own as possible.
I have a domain, I have a hosting company, I have downloaded CoreFTP Client which is a free trial.
The problem I am having is when I sign in to CoreFTP everything seems fine, it's showing me that 226 transfers completed, but I don't know where the transfers are going.. as it is not in my cpanel with my hosting company.. My hosting company keeps telling me that I have not uploaded my files so my website will not show up.
My website is blank, at least it comes up in the browser blank.
But when I use my scripts within my hosting company and i install a script, it shows up on my website in the directory that I assigned it too.
I hope i make sense in what I am trying to say.
so please someone help me with my FTP download/upload, and if you don't know about the ftp client i am using, can u suggest one that you're knowledge about and guide me step by step.. thanks for the help
I have been trying with the hosting company and also with the compaqny that I bought my php script from and i can't seem to get an answer that is working for me. I do have the ftp user name and password.. please read my question and help with an answer if you can.
Yes, as said. Please check your settings/ config.
Check if the FTP server name is pointing the hosting company's servers. Recheck the username and password you have to use on their servers to authenticate.
And check the destination's path and directory. Make sure you can trace the root.
The same goes for the scripting. Make sure you put it on the folder/ path where they can be run.
Good luck!
Help!!! web site design/shopping Cart etc etc?
I am going crazy. I never thought it would be this hard
I'm trying to build a website with a shopping cart
so far I have my domain and hosting, I have started building a site with rvsitebuilder from Cpanel. It's not on the internet yet Im still working on it.
I am stuck on this FTP stuff with filezilla. but the main thing at the moment is the shopping cart. I downloaded Cube cart and I am trying to change the skin/template. I want it look a bit like my site Aqua. I have looked on the net and read heaps of tutorials and i just don't understand. I really need someone to walk me through it .
other things I don't understand is do I need a ssL certificate?how do I get one and do I need "veri sign". Basically what do I need to use pay pal for excepting credit cards securely? I am really sorry to who ever reads this for my lack of knowledge. I am going crazy and feel quite stupid.
Thank you for your help
SSL: In order for SSL to work, you need to get your site certificate signed. The certificate is basically a digital document declaring your identity. The certificate needs to be signed by a certificate authority (CA) who verifies you are who you say you are.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_key_certificate
Verisign is a CA, and they can sign your certificate for a fee.
PayPal: They can accept cc orders, but you need to sign up for a business account, and merchant account. https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_wp-standard-overview-outside&nav=2.0.0
Their fee will be a percentage of the transaction amount. The rate is listed on the website I linked to.
As far as everything else, I can help you. Get my IM by viewing my YA profile, contact me, and I will get you my real email. We'll discuss your situation, and post the results here for others to reference. It's why this site is here anyway. :)
Hope this helps!
