Configure Server
How to configure the server location in Outlook?
I have configured my Outlook to use our local MSExcahange server. But due to some reason the server not responding and when I start my outlook client it gives the message ‘Your MS Exchange Server is unavailable’ . It then shutdown not giving any chance to reconfigure the server. How to configure the server location?
Yes our company is running exchange server. I am not an admin , they moved me to a new location and i want to use outlook from this new pc. the network support people in our company are very slow. thanks anyway
thanks everyone , I have solved the problem by creating a new profile in outlook . control panel->mail. There I set the exchange server address (the new one). Then make the new profile as the default one.
I assume the Exchange server is on your local network (not accessed via the internet).
You have two problems. The first is a bit beyond your control. You're having network connectivity or DNS problems that your sluggish IT guys haven't dealt with. The second is that Outlook will continue to close before you have a chance to reconfigure the settings.
As a partial fix for the first problem, open a command prompt and ping the server by host name ("ping servername"). Write down the IP address that returns the ping. You'll need it later.
Then, open control panel, mail, e-mail accounts, view or change existing accounts, then highlight your exchange server and click "change". In the Microsoft Exchange Server box type in the IP address you wrote down previously. This will bypass DNS (eliminating any DNS issues with Exchange) and boost response time (helping with poor network connectivity). Click "check name" to make sure you hit the server correctly, then "OK" your way out of all the boxes.
Now open Outlook. Short of really, really sucky network connectivity, your e-mail will now function.

How can I configure the MS Exchange server 2003 to make it retrive outside pop-mails to a local account?
I have MS exchange server 2003 running
My manager has 5 external pop mails, I want to configure the Exchange server so that it retrieve all the pop-mail accounts and then it send it back to the manager exchange account
Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS) 2003 has this ability built-in. You need to configure the Exchange POP3 connector which has a wizard to help you.
If you don't have SBS, you'll have to buy a third party product, I use GFI Mail Essentials - www.gfi.com - it's worked quite well and also does very effective, very configurable SPAM filtering. And it's reasonably priced - $450 for 25 mailboxes.
How to configure voip server?
I want to configure voip server. i want to make free calls
You don't really need a VoIP server to get free VoIP calls PC-to-PC.
Almost all VoIP services provide free "In-Network" calling, PC-to-PC, or VoIP ATA-to-ATA (ATA=Analog Telephone Adapter).
I use Linksys SPA2102-NA VoIP ATA adapters. Then, I configure the ATA's to connect through CallCentric VoIP carrier services. All calls between accounts are free.
How to configure a server for two Internet gateways?
Let's say I have a LAN using the 192.168.x.x private IP range, and I want to use two separate router/gateways (call them A and B) to connect the LAN to two separate Internet connections with two separate public IP addresses. All machines will use A (hi-speed, dynamic IP) as their default gateway. There will be inbound HTTP requests on B (low-speed, static IP) which will be forwarded to a server on the LAN. With this setup, will the server send its responses via B, where they came from (which I assume will be necessary for it to work), or via A, its default? If it will send via A, and that will not work, can I set up two private IPs with different default gateways on the one machine somehow to make it work?
Again I have to bring up the Linksys RV042. I attempted this exercise myself a year before the RV042 was available. It has dual WAN inputs so you can load balance or fail over between DSL connections.

How do i Configure Mac Server running Mac OS 10.2 and Mac Worstation IMac running OS 9.2 for internet?
I have been asked to configure mac server (Mac Power PC G4 running OS 10.2 and the workstations IMac running OS 9.2 to accept setting up of new IP Addresses i have been given, i only know PC can you give me detailed step by step
Just go into the system preferences, the network control panel. If you are assigning static IP address, the links are in there for both Macs running OS 9 and MacOs X. If you are telling the Macs to use DHCP, just go to the same place. Takes about 5 minutes. You need to be an administrator to do it.
how best can i configure database checkpointing on mssql server 2000?
i'm running mssql server 2000 and i have several databases. i would like to manually configure checkpointing.i have changed the "recovery interval" setting to 20. i then created a job for each database that runs after every 2 mins. however, i'm told that i should only have one job that uses "master" as the current database. will this checkpoint for all the other databases or i should have one job per database?
I think it applies to the server and not db. Setting recovery interval means that the next time the server reboots, it will take that time to recover each db.
How can I configure Exchange server 2003 so that I can send mails to outside?
I have local mail server using Exchange 2003, I need to configure it so that i can send Emails to the internet (Ex: xxx@yahoo.com, yyy@hotmail.com, zzz@www.vv)
and if it is possible and I have different mail addresses to send from how can i manage it
First off do you have your dns setup so you can receive emails from outside. If you right click on your exchange server name and then left click on Internet Mail Wizard it will run you through everything you need on the server side. One reference that's helped me is the Pocket Consultant for Exchange 2003
