I want to buy a domain name can you tell me how it works?
I've bought domain names before, quite a few! Usually they just cost a tenner. The name I want has gone - but on this site https://www.buydomains.com it is still for sale. Does it mean that they own it and are selling it on? Can you barter with these people, or do you call them and they give you a fixed price? Thanks in advance - Molly

They acquire previously used domain names and charge you what they think the market rate is.You can try to barter but I have no experience of this.I have looked at the site before and walked away becuase unless you have a sure fire winning business model its not worth paying more than a tenner for a webname.

You were probably looking into a dedicated server; the prices on those suckers are sky high. Get a shared server; if you want a good recommendation I would direct you to http://www.hostrocket.com with 4.95/mo you get an insane hosting deal, even though it's shared you get unlimited space, bandwidth and e-mail functionality. GoDaddy is good for purchasing domains for cheap, they also have economy hosting which is the basic type of hosting if you want to choose GoDaddy as your provider; but don't look into dedicated servers, they can go up to as much as 300/mo.
