Business Website
Business website?
I want to make a simple business website but not sure what to use to make that. I want it to look good. Should I use a company? Which company?
The site will just look good with information about our company. It doesnt need anything fancy.
Ok i give you something to consider. to make a website you need the following.
1. web hosting - you could get around USD5 per month and that is USD60 per year.
2. domain name. you could get .com for USD10 per year.
3. web design. cost? check out below forum to know what is the price webmaster would charge.
http://www.earnersforum.com/t10089/
http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18033
4. autoresponder. this is an autopilot services that allows you gather your newsletter's subscriber information so you can send them automatic response. USD20 per month so USD120 per year.
I could say it could easily cost you more than USD500 per year just to maintain simple business site if you don't have the knowledge to do it yourself.
So what if you got an option if you can have business site for less than USD300 per year.
- you got web space. (unlimited with condition that don't violate their term)
- you got unlimited bandwith (as long you don't make your site as social site like myspace, a video site like youtube or a forum or download site. they are not a media web hosting). so if you got a pet site and so popular you can receive unlimited visitor without extra charge.
- domain name.
- autoresponder.
- you can make it simple or put a lot of content when you want to
- you can attach a blog to it.
- you can do keyword research.
- you don't have to know html to make your site. the infrastructure is there so you just give the system what you want to put on your site.
- you got access to a private forum where ambitious and hard working business owner hang out. good for networking and link building for your site.
- you can add on an online store capability with extra fee but less than USD50 per year.
- 30 days 100% money back guarantee. after that pro rate basis.
Believe me their system is worth more than USD1000 a year.
65% of sites that are built using this system is at the 3th percentile of all the website in the world(the current statistic is around 100 millions sites). and that means at least 10,000 visitor per month. but you got to remember it takes time to reach that point because traffic come with content. so if your site stay 5 pages the whole life time don't ever dream to get that much traffic. on the net traffic generate income.
I'm an Infopreneur. I earn a living providing information services to others who needs useful knowledge and would save a lot of their time especially on the net when information is abundance yet the quality is questionable.

How can I create a business website that provides a service as opposed to selling actual products?
I want to create a business website that provides a service (similar concept as 'sittercity', but different service) and charges a modest membership fee, but I am not sure where to get started. I've heard of web hosting, but am not sure if this only applies to businesses that are selling products.
My ideal website would be free to everyone with restricted access, but only paid members would be able to fully access all features of the website. Does anyone have helpful information on how to get this started?
You hit the nail right on the head. You must create a site that is warm and inviting. Start by offering free access then follow up with charging for full access. Your free access should presell the full access. It gives the visitor the chance to get his/her feet wet then decide to go further.
There are several hosts that can assist. Some hosts offer better tools then others. The key is to find the best match for your needs. In order to find the best match, I would suggest comparing several options. First comparing feature-by-feature then dollar-for-dollar. Using this process will ensure the best fit and the most value for your money. The web host that I use for my business is http://find.sitesell.com/UnstoppableDreams.html
They have great examples and specialized tips/assistance for building specific/targeted sites. One of their specialties is service sites as well.

Can I start an online business website while staying and working in Ireland?
I have an Irish Employment Permit for 3 years to work for a particular employer only in Rep. of Ireland. Can I easily start my e-business website? Is it illegal? Can I own any other source of income like doing some online trade? I mean not as a big company. Just as a startup only.
Yes you can, but only while you are continuing your existing job.
If your online business prospers to the point where you can give up your job, you would need to apply for a new employment permit if you intend to stay in RI.
As long as you can show you are contributing to the economy, it shouldn't be a problem.
In other words make sure you declare your online income and pay the relevant tax.
What should be included in a business website?
My dad recently bought a heating and airconditioning business and I want to make a website for him and my question is what would you like to see on a company's website in order to make you consider doing business with them? History, certifications, mission statement, pictures ect. The nature of the business doesn't really allow for pricing so that is out. Any ideas would be great.
Some Advice:
1) Your website should be Professional with simple Navigation. Keep it simple. Homepage, About, Services, Contact (should have a form), and Testimonials (post some good feedback from past/current customers).
2) Pictures. Should be Company logos, high quality pictures of staff or building location, and/or work-related images. I always suggest using Free stock images from Microsoft's Clipart/Photo section. Use a photo, no cartoon images. Stay away from celebration photos, etc. Keep it professional.
Since your website will be new, keep it simple and easy to navigate. Once you gain trust and "website" customer loyalty, then you can elaborate your site.
how do I direct traffic to my alteration business website, when others are using search?
I want to post my clothing alteration business on the internet. how do I direct traffic to my alteration business website, when others are using search?
The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and
MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
very large Internet Yellow Pages.
Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using
such "generic" queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.
You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
at Google and Yahoo.
Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, "Who's my end user - is he on dialup or
DSL?" And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then select analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
is best for them.
A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.
Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.
Placement of Metatags:
A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.
The second metatag is the "Description" which is
usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one's goods and services.
And the very last category - "Keywords" are also
somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
"Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google's spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
directory.
Here's an example of a very highly-placed website on
Google.com: Begin with the very "generic" search query
"sandwiches downtown los angeles," taking note to not
abbreviate Los Angeles to "LA" and of course, leave
out the parentheses ("). It will bring up some 2.4
million+ search results. Check out where "Nazos.net"
is ranked. It's ranked No. 1!
Again, Nazos.net's high web presence was achieved by
proper web design and placement of relevant metatags
according to Google's publication guidelines.
Good luck!
How much will cost to run a professional business website?
I am planning to run a business website. But I don't know anything about the cost. I am not talking about designing the website or maintenance. I am talking about hosting etc..Could you please give some information.
Well, it depends on how much you want to spend.
1. If you're from the UK I recommend http://www.hosttell.com/one They are one of the leading European hosting companies (hosting over 500 000 websites), and they currently have a promotion in the UK. They are offering free hosting and a domain (You have to pay the £9.50 setup fee and that's it). Every plan includes Photo Gallery, WebEditor (so you can build a website without knowledge of HTML), Google Adwords coupon (so you can advertise your website on google for free) and a lot more. Check them out.
P.S. They are running this promotion in UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and India so if you're from one of these countries you can get really cheap web hosting.
2. For $5-$10 I recommend Dreamhost http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html

You can use the promo code PLUS at sign up page and get the $50 discount + 2 Free domain names. This way you get them for $69.40/year ($5.78/month). You can use their huge Disk Space and host unlimited number of subdomains and domains on a single plan.

Bandwidth: 5000 GB
2 Free domain names

Can the Address on a business website and paperwork be different to soletrader's home address?
Can a soletrader business use a family members address as the address on letterheads and website. All the financial stuff would be dealt by the soletrader.
Could this have any impact on the person living at the address used on business paperwork?
Simple answer...Yes, you can put any address for your business.
The E-Commerce Regulations require that all commercial web sites make the following information directly and permanently available to consumers via the website:
the company's name, postal address (and registered office address if this is different) and email address.
I hope this is of help.

Yahoo has one of the easiest procedures to get a website going. There are simple steps to follow when uploading a website. If you have already uploaded the website, I would definitely get back in and read the steps again. Otherwise, get yahoo tech support to help you.
