Between Shared Hosting
Is it possible to make resource sharing between local host and the virtual network?
For example can I share my PC modem with the virtual machines ? if affirmative then how?
Thanks
in vmware, you can use bridged networking, which will essentially use the computers nic directly, regardless of what the host machine is doing with it
internet sharing between XP and UBUNTU?
i have dsl internet on the host (xp) where i have been sharing it with my laptop (xp) as well using kerio light... today i formated my laptop into linux ubuntu edgy eft..
im wondering how can i still use internet sharing between the host (xp) and the client (ubuntu)
All you need to do is set your router (default route) to point to the internal card address of the XP machine. Then set the dns server addresses, you can get these from your ISP. A better alternative for any Internet sharing is to use a dedicated router, this seriously reduces the load on the XP machine.
How do I share or move files between two computers using remote desktop for windows xp?
I am trying to move files back and forth between my work (host) computer and my home (remote) computer. Is this possible using Window's Remote Desktop Connection? If so how? I have Windows XP home for the remote computer and Windows XP Pro for the host computer.
You can do this by:
1) Launch Remote Desktop
2) Click on the "Options >>>" button
3) Click on the "Local Resources" tab
4) Check the "Disk drives" checkbox
5) Then click Connect - you will get a warning message but go ahead and click OK
6) Then login into your remote computer and then goto My Computer and you will see the local drives of your host computer that you can drag and drap files from your remote computer.
How to share files between two laptops which are already connected via crossover wire?!?
Hi,....
I have to laptops. I have managed to setup a network between these two via a crossover cable. Also I have assigned the folders which I want them to be shared.
But still I don't know how to get to the host laptop and get the folders......
I'm quite confused!!!!!!!!
if the two computer( laptops) are set up correctly both should be showing in the workgroup and moving files between them is just a matter of cut copy paste .
if your not seeing each laptop in a work group then you did not set things up correct , simply running a cross over cable between them is not how this is done
both machines need to have ip's set in the nic card , gateway setup and assinged to the same workgroup
What is the connection between Medium Access Control(MAC) and the hardware MAC address?
For example in an ethernet where all hosts share a common broadcast link for each host to have access to the link there is Medium Access Control like the CSMA/CD protocol.
Also any communications hardware device(Computer NIC, bluetooth adaptor, mobile phone, etc) has a "MAC address". How is this 'MAC address' related to the above mentioned Access Control?
They're not actually related.
The former is a protocol used to detect a carrier on the line, to sense if the line is busy detect collision of data packets. For example, PPP uses CSMA/CD to see when it's okay to send data or how long to wait after detecting a collision before sending more data.
MAC - stands for Media Access Control. It basically refers to your Ethernet card and the MAC address or hardware address or burnt-in address basically refers to the physical address of the card.
MAC addresses are made up of 6 segments of hexadecimal numbers like A1:B2:C3:D4:E5:F6
The first 3 represent the company (every company that makes cards has their own unique number/s)
The last 3 numbers represent the card's own unique number.
That way, as long as the company doesn't make 2 cards with the same last 3 numbers, no 2 cards will ever have the same hardware address.
Unlike IP addresses, MAC addresses are "burnt-in" to the card in the factory and can't be changed (easily).
How to add a space between two HTML image tag ?
I'm building my blog on Wordpress and my left sidebar consist of ten 100x100 squares (drawings).
I pasted the HTML tags one after another (i.e
) but that left no space between the squares.
Is there an HTML command to add a small space between each drawing (square) ?
Thanks !
Thank you so much guys ! Worked perfectly !
I know it was a silly little thing... ;-)
I'll remember for next time.
I'll be back in a day to give you your points !
If you're going to be doing this for every image on the page, an easier method is to simply put the code:
into the head element of your web page. However, if there are other images on the page that you do not want to touch, and all of the images you want to space out happen to be within a certain element on the page, say a DIV element that is your sidebar, all you have to do is give the container an id attribute, say
Why is there such a huge difference in the price of internet domain registrations, between registrars?
Is there some variance in the degree of ownership one has of their domain, whether they buy from one company or another? I'm just trying to understand what constitutes or justifies the difference. -I have seen single domain registrations for as low as $4.95, to as high as $35 (actually, sometimes higher).
Also, please share with me what domain registration sites, hosting sites, and web design sies and/or services you have had good experiences with.
I am about to build 3 pages, having never built a single one, before. So, I am a total newbie, know no html or other programming languages, and, at least one of my sites may need to be a portal (and, I am told, possibly php).
I welcome your suggestions.
Please be kind, and share your best.
Thank you.
just use http://www.LocoDomains.com they have the best deals and service

What's the difference between copyright infingement and YouTube?
How is it that an average citizen can be fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for copyright infingement while corporations like Google and others that own YouTube and other related websites can rake in millions of dollars while hosting files that clearly violate copyright law? It's absurd. The law should be applied to all of the parties involved not simply to average people that happen to share MP3 files while realizing zero profit.
There's a lot of misinformation in the answers here... YouTube is not a "service" any more so than Napster was a "service" - and we all know what happened to Napster... The only difference is that Google, YouTube, etc. claim that their copyright responsibility is only when the copyright holder contacts them to remove the content... They don't see the mere fact that they are hosting illegal content as a crime. The fact that the government does not realize that there is an entire industry that is thriving around the hosting of illegal content is absurd. YouTube has an incredible amount of traffic not because it's YouTube but because it is hosting illegal content. The traffic drives profits. If you create entire business models that depend upon illegal content then of course you are going to hire a plethora of lawyers to secure your financial investment. The RIAA and government organizations need to wake up and start fighting the true threat if they are truly concerned...
YouTube is not an internet institution that somehow exempts it from copyright infringement. This is like saying that MySpace is built on an amazing array of well-made perl scripts... Both are extremely simple sites that allow users to post copyrighted material all day long... The Google PageRank of a website does not somehow exempt it from following the letter of the law... My bet is that eventually the law will catch up with websites like these and you will then see a significant change in the responsibility of website owners to control copyright infringement... Suddenly these websites will be liable for millions of dollars rather than individuals who share files on Kazaa or some other P2P platform...
You Yube is an internet institution where people can post stuff.
Copyright infringement is the act of using some copyrighted material without the permission of the owner of the copyright. The courts have ruled that it makes no difference if you do it for profit, or if you do it for free.
The laws have exempted some government agencies from being at risk of law suit or criminal penalties. For example, some schools habitually make unauthorized copies of text books, claiming they have a duty to educate the youth, but do not have the budget to purchase all the neccessary text books.
In reality, this practice is teaching youth that it is Ok to be a criminal, if you think you can get away with it.
Many places can get permission to display copyrighted material, or know how to cite it in context.
Many ordinary people do not bother with learning how to do this, and take their chances on getting into trouble.
can you tell me the difference between domain and work group ways of networking computers?
which one is the best to configure computers interms of degree of resources sharing, managing computers(users) resources, level of security reqiurement, numbers of hosts it can provide at a tiime , others factors you consider?
With a domain, you need a server (domain controller) to determine the security of the network ... a workgroup is usually used very loosely with little or no security.
with the workgroup you do not need a server.
