Best Host
What is the best place to look for host families?
I recently became a volunteer for an organization that places foreign exchange students with host families. I thought it would be easy, but after a month, I'm a little discouraged. I don't know where to find host families. What's the best resource?
I understand that I can go through churchs and other community institutions, but I'm much more comfortable with the internet. Is there a website for this sort of thing?
well: according to "Forgin Student Exchange Program yes it's
done with the Missionaries in sending people from Global
Churches of which you'd can Volunteer yes refer

What is the best home party to host?
What is the best home party to host?
I live in NJ and have had a party lite party already and have been to tastefully simple party and a few others. What is the best type of party to have for a group of 25 to 30 year olds?
Well What I usually do is a theme, it depends on the crowd (guests) what theme is the best.
If you want to keep it tasteful, try something distinguished, like "1001 Arabian nights" or "Candlelight".
for music tips there are 100's of resources, but I'd say you need to stick to your personal taste and knowledge of the people that are coming over, and adjust the music accordingly.
The themes i've mentioned above are subtle, you don't have to do ridiculous decorations. Some candles, sashes and music really does the trick.
But in the end... A party and it's theme is a reflection of it's host' taste... It's merely an advise.
What's the best way to become a host for a foreign exchange student?
I'm a single male, no spouse or children, who lives in St. Paul, Minnesota. I own a house and have an extra room. What's the best agency to use to become a foreign exchange student host? How long is this usually for? Do any agencies offer financial help for food, etc.? Have any other single people done this before?
I was a single Mom with a 13 year old hosting an Italian exchange student. What a lot of people don't realize is that they're all in your city together, so there was like 50 "kids" who all end up at one house or another(even though they have been placed in different homes, they almost always want to spend the night together) I personally welcomed them crashing here because my guy was only 15. But when you do this you have to realize they llive differently and you have to kind of respect that. Like in Italy they don't eat until like 10:00 pm then they go out, then they go out for coffee and get home around 4:00 But it was SO worth it, I love my Nicola, and Fabrizio, and AnnaNicola (the pretty one) And keep in touch with them, so yes do it It will be really rewarding but also be prepared for lots of driving and please be patient! Here's an ad for foriegn exchange in your area
What is the best way to host a million images on a web server?
I have a web site where members can sign up and upload images. Thinking large scale, say I have 100,000 members and each one uploads 100 images (averaging 1mb per image). That would require roughly 10,000 gigabytes of storage.
What is the best way to set up a server(s) to host something of this scale?
Well, you could set up a standard merchant account with Yahoo
http://YahooMerchant.moneysavecenter.com/
and get bigger as you grow.
Getting 100.000 users will get a long time, by the time you get there you will have the money to pay for it.
Starting up with Yahoo it means they'll NEVER run out of space which means you won't have to change servers when you grow.
You can start even smaller than merchant here http://yahoowebhosting.moneysavecenter.com/
take care and good luck with your ventures.
How should I tip the host at the Canlis, in Seattle, to get the best seat?
I'm going for a special occasion and want a good table by the window. They said they can't promise anything on the phone but will try their best when I get there. How much should I tip the host and how should I gracefully make the transaction? Thanks!

What is the best way to make and host a web site?
My father has a business and I would like to make a website for him I used to know some html but have forgotten it from lack of use. I have a Macbook with Tiger on it which includes iWeb. I like the program but it seems to lack something. I would like to start out cheap with creation and with hosting. I plan on starting out hosting the site on my PC with Windows XP on it but I would like to create and maintain the website from my Macbook. What would you recommend should I host it or should I get it hosted? What is the best program to use or should I learn html again?
I would most def have it hosted. Esp if it is for a business. Dependant on your ISP. If you are not set on a business plan you would most likely be going against your acceptable use policy, thus putting yourself at jepordy of loosing your internet service. I would recommend the site listed in the sources. I have used them for over a year now and they are fantasic. Extremely cheap. Depending on how you pay (how many months at a time) the price ranges from $7.50 to $6.20 a month. With their features you won't find a better deal, not to mention not a single min of downtime. But thats just my opinon, as far as software...thats dependant...you have html and xtml to choose from. If you allready know html I would stick with it. As for software I'll include a link for a decent freebie as well
What is the Best Sports Town To Host A Pro Team?
What's the best town to host a major professional sports team? What town has the fan support, the history, the tradition and all the other things that make a great sports town? What city is the GREATEST home for a professional sports team*
*Major professional sports team= NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL.
NO LISTS! I want ONE town that stands out and a reason! Lists are such a cop out as an answer!
My question is basically what's the best sports town? It doesn't have to have host all four major league pro sporting leagues. I just want to hear about the towns.
Chicago
I want to host a web server. What is the best ISP for the job?
I want to host a web server from my house, but I don't know what the best Internet Service Provider is for the job. I'd like one that's cheap, but also has good quality and service. I'm currently on Charter and they don't allow hosting residential web servers. Anyone able to help?

What is the best way to host a busy website with high traffic?
We are launching a web site that potentially will have high traffic with users registration. Is it better to host it with a web-hosting company or its better to own some space in data centers with some (or lot of) expense?
Any advice with cost and strategy would be appreciated. If i go with web-hosting company which is fast and reliable?
There can be no question that a data center offers the more reliable and secure environment for a website project, but at what cost? Every data center website I have visited does not list their prices, and the pricing structure varied greatly from center to center. I'm guessing that data centers are not cheap. Web hosting, on the other hand is cheap ( you can get started for about $50 to $100). Outfits like Go daddy, Apollo and Yahoo hosting offer very affordable rates and are pretty much on the same level when it comes to reliability and speed. But if you break down the reasons that make a data center better than a web hosting provider, some of the advantages of the data center don't seem too important any more. Both data centers and web hosting providers offer:
-Linux and Windows based platforms.
-Redundant power backup and cooling solutions.
-Tier 1 backbone connections.
-Compatibility with complex languages such as Pearl, PHP, and Python.
Initially, if the website is expected to get a lot of traffic, there is no doubt that a web hosting service will be adequate, and it will keep the startup costs down. If a move is necessary in the future (and it may be if you get the traffic you predict), perhaps a move to a data center may be in order. (moving a website is not as difficult as it sounds. Most hosting providers offer services to assist with the move) If you actually get the traffic you want, I would seriously consider moving to a data center. They have sophisticated fire suppression systems and air conditioning units that offer the best possible up time you can expect. They even incorporate a raised flooring system that negates the risk of static electricity. Even a good web hosting provider will not guarantee %100 up time.
Hope this helps.
