Bandwidth Host

How do you get bandwidth for a website if you host your own site on your own server?

The bandwidth on your local server is regulated by your ISP. To get more bandwidth you would need to contact your ISP. Now as soon as you do that your ISP will tell you that you will have to upgrade to one of there business class packages because they want to charge you for all the connections to your server. This could get expensive.

Launching a video how to site. Afraid to use flash and host myself due to bandwidth costs. is this pricey?
I'm just thinking that hosting the videos on youtube or revver would be cheaper.

Hosting your vids on YouTube makes huge sense. Just set up a channel and you'll be good to go.

I am looking for an Internet bandwidth speed measurement software code that I can host on my own?
I am setting up remote locations and would like to test the upload and download of each location via my own hosted server. Does anyone have any code or knows what the formula would be to ensure a valid speed test?

There are several on download.com heres one http://www.download.com/VivilProject-SpeedTest/3000-2085_4-10644995.html

What sort of service do i need to host a website with a over 4,000 GB of bandwidth a month ?
Basically, im making these calculations from mp3 128kbit/s streaming and a user estimate. Im assuming support for audio streaming...am i looking here for a webhost or something more than that ? Really just a webhost ? Thanks. It's just that i keep reading about high volume stream sites having tons of servers that worries me. What does that really mean ? That they just have huge packages from a webhost too ?

The best one is hostmonster webhosting since they offer unlimited bandwidth and free domain with their webhosting package.i also like the fact that on every signup they give you $100 credits to advertise your website with google & yahoo search engines for free. http://www.hostmonster.com/track/hostmonsterwebhosting/

My Web Host gives me 100 GB of Bandwidth. Approximately, how many page views is that?
If this is of any use, there will be a lot of images. I.e. Family Photo Website.

Depends totally on the size of the page. If photos etc are properly optimized and suppose that your page is 100kb then you will get approx 1,000,000 page views. (Or slightly more because 1MB = 1024kb)

What is the bandwidth limit for AT&T/SBC Elite DSL customer, if I were to host web site with Apache server?
ATT/SBC - Residential - Elite DSL package. I've got apache set up on my computer and I want to host my own php/mysql web site. How much usage before they slap on additional charges, bump me to a commericial account, or suspend my account?

with the 6.0Mbps down, you've probably got around 768kbps upload ... so, ideally, about 80kb/s file transfer. it's probably uncapped (no bandwidth limit), so you shouldn't have to worry about any extra charges, but it'll be aweful slow loading/downloading if you get more than 2 or 3 people connected, plus you won't be able to do much of anything online if someone's connected. *Note: most home broadband companies use dynamic IP addresses ... they change your IP address every couple weeks, month, 2 months, whatever. so if you're using a redirect, you'll have to keep it updated.

Free web host that has steady bandwidth?
I'm sick registering so many web hosts and all of them give poor page download speed. Any recommend of very good free web host?

If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don't go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying. If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account. I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent. Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukenden/ They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well. Visit the site to check details. Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukenden/ Domains Following site is quite good to register domains as price is reasonable with free privacy. Some charge about $5/ year just for free privacy. IPOWER http://www.anurl.com/?TXIBE FREE AD-FREE HOSTING. If you would like free ad-free hosting, try http://www.webzonetalk.com/hosting.html

If I bought more bandwidth would I be able to upload to my host faster?

Look for the package that has the fastest upload speed. ADSL shows something like 512/128 (download speed/upload speed).

When you post a pic that is hosted by another site to a forum, does it affect the bandwidth of forum?
if i post an image from photobucket or imageshack, to a forum using the code similar to the one above, does that affect the bandwidth of the forum? Is that same thing as uploading images directly to the forum, as far as bandwidth usage goes? It's confusing because images are actually showing up on a forum but they were uploaded on another site.

no, whoever is reading the forum is grabbing the image off the linked site and inserting it into the forum, so no it does not affect the bandwidth of the forum
