100mb Host

Where can i host large video files for free?
I want to create video tutorials for people in the CG/3d community but was wondering, at a 100mb each, is there any sites that can host them for free or with minimum hassle, click click and download.

run ftp on your own computer.

Where else besides youtube, metacafe, etc can you host a video file ?
I work for a real estate management company who made a small video to advertise a rental space. IT oringally hosted the youtube file on the company's website, but no longer feels comfortable using youtube beacuse of its questionable content and feel it might be a legal liability. are there any other sites that are free and will allow me to post this video on our website and stream it, similar to youtube ? i know of guba, metacafe, revver, ifilm, anything less questionable ? or if anyone has any ideas, let me know. the file is coming at 100mb and it will probably kill the company's website if was hosted internally..

http://www.ifilm.com Personally, I think your company should host it by itself. It is very unprofessional looking for a company to be using a free service to host internet content.

Creating a proxy server for surfing the web!?
suppose that i've bought about 100MB host! ... can anyone lead/guide me to use it as my personal proxy server for surfing the web ? I mean how can I open a port on my server, to use it as a proxy?

Ok, I think you're confused about what you bought here. You bought a hosting plan from a webhost right? With 100mb of storage or bandwidth? What happens is their computers have MANY websites on a single computer, you can serve files from that computer, but you can't use it's services to turn it into a web proxy. If you buy a dedicated host for ~$100 a month, you can turn it into a proxy, although it's useless since they will have your info and it wouldn't do much to keep your privacy intact. I suggest http://tor.eff.org It's free and extremely fast and secure. More secure than any other proxy avalible. And easy to setup. The only way to have a proxy with what you bought is a cgi proxy, in which you would point your browser to your website, and the site would show a little bar with the address, and go EXTREMELY slow. If you are trying to setup a proxy for NON privacy uses then you need a dedicated machine, if say you need to make a proxy for work or your organisation, to filter content.

Where to host videos to show on MySpace???
Ive searched around and tried several of the free sites but none of them give me the room I need to host videos of 4-5 minutes or over 100mb. My vids are in .MOV format..is there a way to make them smaller with out cutting them up?? like converting them to another type like .mpg or .avi or something? Or is there a cheap site to host them at that will give me like a gig of room? Please do not suggest sites unless youve used them and know that they will suit my needs, cuz chances are Ive tried it. I have tried to upload them to MySpace and YouTube, but they do let allow the size I need. typo above...they Do Not Allow the size I need.

They have video downloads on myspace or you can get an account on youtube.com (for free) and download it there and get the code and put it on myspace!

What is the best place to host a website?
I have had my site with YahooDomains since 2002... but I don't like the forced changes they are making me adapt to. What is a good site to have host my site? Right now it is under 100mb, without much traffic, nothing really fancy, but it has over 100 pages within it. I need to have multiple email accounts, and I want to have my own domain with email accounts like @mydomainname.com, not @mydomainname.host.com. I want it to be a realiable host. I currently use CuteFTP 4.2 to upload, so if I can keep using it that would also be a plus.

http://www.asmallorange.com is a bargain, and reliable...cpanel for control...high reputation among webmasters (see http://www.webhostingtalk.com ) Also if you're "green" minded look into solar-powered hosting at http://www.greenesthost.com but it costs more than ASO but still less than Yahoo!

the best was is to use a compression tool. there should be one in the system tools. if not you can do a search for a video compression tool on google.

Is there a host that can handle some high traffic?
I am creating a personal site, but I have some serious files going on here, like huge videos, and people will be downloading like crazy. I mean, I'm not making as much traffic as a porn site might, but close! Right now I am using 1and1 for my 3 sites that I have. If I was to go into my site to watch say, a 100mb music video, it would take 10 minutes to buffer! So if I was to download the same video from the 1and1 server using an extremely fast connection, it still only gets about 110 kbs, which is horrible. I need a host that can handle some serious downloads. Expense is no worry, so please feel free to answer, even if you do not own a site, I would love to hear what's on the vine.

http://www.goldpuma.com is the lowest cost service which is full-featured and really works for you ($3.99 /month). You can also take a look at: http://bluehost-service.atspace.com . As an experienced webmaster I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them. Their service is really great and easy to use.

MPEG Streamclip is a powerful video converter, player, editor for Mac and Windows. It can play many movie files, not only MPEGs; it can convert MPEG files between muxed/demuxed formats for authoring; it can encode movies to many formats, including iPod; it can cut, trim and join movies. http://www.squared5.com/

To host your site for free, I would highly recommend the following 2 sites. Awardspace -> http://www.awardspace.com (PHP + MySQL) 50webs -> http://www.50webs.com Both of these sites allow you to host for free and does not have any advertisement pop ups like those provided by geocities. I have sites hosted on both the companies. Example Awardspace -> http://www.wanginternet.com 50webs -> http://cctvcamera.50webs.com Also, read a review I wrote on Awardspace at http://www.wanginternet.com Hope it helps.
