what do you mean by launch control and traction control in formula 1 racing. is this mechanism used in normal?
Launch control refers to an electronic device that is used to assist a Formula 1 driver in the very moment of the start of a race.In high-performance racing vehicles, the driver has a very small threshold when it comes to acceleration. High power delivered by the engine to the gearbox and driven wheels can not be easily managed even by the most experienced drivers. Facing this issue, and with the growing development of electronics during the 1980s, led to the introduction of this type of software. In 1985, Renault's RE60 F1 car had a device that hosted a diskette which stored information inside and was unloaded at the pits, giving the engineers detailed data about the cars' behavior. Later on, telemetry allowed the data to be sent by a radio connection between the pits and the car. The increase of electronic-driven devices on the car allowed the engineers to modify the settings of certain parameters on the car while it was on the track, this being called bi-directional telemetry

as far as i know, launch control is used during the start, or let's say, when the car starts from still. when the car steers, and when the driver accelerates, the wheels, especially the ones with the lower load on them (because of centrifugal force) starts skidding. traction control prevents this skid to maintain the handling of the car. the basic difference between them is LC is used when the car is not moving and TC is used when the car is moving.

Little Johnny is always being teased by the other neighborhood boys for being stupid. Their favorite joke is to offer Johnny his choice between a nickel and a dime -- Little Johnny always takes the nickel. One day, after Johnny takes the nickel, a neighbor man takes him aside and says, "Johnny, those boys are making fun of you. Don't you know that a dime is worth more than a nickel, even though the nickel's bigger?" Johnny grins and says, "Well, if I took the dime, they'd stop doing it, and so far I've made $20!"

Were you happy to hear that National Public Radio layed off 64 people? ?
Should the government be in business of funding and controlling radio stations? National Public Radio -- now laying off 64 employees and shutting down two programs -- has some perhaps surprising salary figures : NPR reported its five highest paid employees were: 1. Managing Editor Barbara Rehm, $383,139 2. All Things Considered host Robert Siegel [pictured], $350,288 3. Morning Edition host Renee Montagne, $332,160 4. Morning Edition host Steve Inskeep, $331,242 5. NPR afternoon programming director Richard L. Harris, $190,267. Should taxpayer money be used to pay these clowns a salary higher than the President of the United States?

bonsai persian pink silk tree from seed?
i have recently started growing a pink silk tree and it has grown to around 3" high and has 2 branches but one of the branches has only 1 big leaf and no growing tip the other branch has 2 smaller leaves and a growing tip between them, as i am a bonsai noobie i dont know if this is optimal, in the instructions i got with the seeds there is a picture of what it should look like and this states that there should only be one stem coming from the seed leaves and splitting into 2 leaves with a growing tip between them, so do i need to remove the branch with the one big leaf to promote even growth? i managed to take a piccy of the tree its hosted at http://img451.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bonsaiwx5.jpg thanks in advance

That's a good photo. Did they give you a botanical name of the tree? It appears to be a mimosa which is often called the silk tree. Looks like it's doing well, so you need patience. Don't remove any branches yet. Give it a chance to grow more before you do any training. You might want to look at the Bonsai Care page on my website: http://www.american-bonsai.com , or maybe email me at wchoat@american-bonsai.com if you have more questions. This could be an outdoor tree, but won't know until we get the botanical name. There are also some indoor trees that have this type of leaf from the 'acacia' family.

who likes the new texans scadule?
Sept. 9 KANSAS CITY (9-7, 3-5 road) vs. Texans 2-1 Houston hosts Kansas City for the third time in regular season action on Sept. 9 to start their sixth season in franchise history. Only Cleveland will have made as many trips to Reliant Stadium as Kansas City will have by the end of the 2007 season. The Texans will be looking to even the all-time series with Kansas City at two wins apiece and will look to avenge one of the most lopsided losses in franchise history. The Chiefs enjoyed their last trip to Houston in 2005, handing the Texans a 45-17 loss behind 211 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Larry Johnson. 2 Sept. 16 Carolina (8-8, 4-4 home) vs. Texans 0-1 As with the Atlanta Falcons, Houston has defeated Carolina at Reliant Stadium, but will venture on the road against the Panthers for the first time ever in Week 2. The Texans enter 2007 with a 2-2 record all-time against the NFC South, playing each team twice. Depending on Carolina’s quarterback situation, the game could also mark Panthers’ quarterback David Carr’s first game against the team that drafted him first overall in the 2002 NFL Draft. 3 Sept. 23 INDIANAPOLIS (12-4, 4-4 road) vs. Texans 9-1 The Texans claimed their first ever win over the Colts last season at Reliant Stadium. In fact, Houston enters the 2007 season as the last team to beat the Colts, who went on to win Super Bowl XVI after faltering against the Texans late in December last year. It will mark the second time in franchise history that the Texans have faced the defending Super Bowl champion. Houston faced Tampa Bay in 2003, a year after the Buccaneers won Super Bowl XXXVII. 4 Sept. 30 Atlanta (7-9, 3-5 home) vs. Texans 0-1 The Texans will be looking to raise their record to 2-0 all-time against the Falcons when Houston travels to Atlanta in Week 4. The game will be Texans’ quarterback Matt Schaub’s first against his former team. While Schaub is quite familiar with the Georgia Dome, the Texans are not as the game will be the first for Houston in Atlanta in franchise history. 5 Oct. 7 MIAMI (6-10, 2-6 road) vs. Texans 0-2 The Texans will be looking for their third consecutive win over the Dolphins when Miami travels to Houston on Oct. 7. Interestingly enough, Houston’s two previous wins over the Dolphins have been the first wins respectively of the 2003 and 2006 seasons. It’s unlikely that will be the case this fall. Houston defeated Miami last season at Reliant Stadium, 17-15, to give Gary Kubiak his first win as an NFL head coach. 6 Oct. 14 Jacksonville (8-8, 2-6 road, 6-2 home) vs. Texans 4-6 The Jaguars went 6-2 at home last season, but one of those losses came at the hands of the Texans who had one of their more impressive defensive showings of the 2006 season at Alltel Stadium The Texans led the whole way, racing out to a 10-0 lead and holding on for a 13-10 win. Houston collected four turnovers, all interceptions from Jaguars quarterback David Garrard. 7 Oct. 21 TENNESSEE (8-8, 4-4 road, 4-4 home) vs. Texans 8-2 Houston and Tennessee have yet to split a season series. The Texans swept the season series in 2004, but have lost every other game played against the Titans in franchise history, including a 26-20 overtime loss at Reliant Stadium last year. 8 Oct. 28 San Diego (14-2, 8-0 home) vs. Texans 2-0 The Texans will be looking for their first win in franchise history against the Chargers when they travel to San Diego in Week 8. These two teams last met in 2004, a 27-20 triumph by the Chargers in Houston. 9 Nov. 4 Oakland (2-14, 2-6 home) vs. Texans 0-2 Houston will spend a second consecutive week on the left coast when they travel to Oakland in Week 9. The Texans have never lost to the Raiders and will be looking for wins in consecutive seasons after defeating Oakland last year in a defensive exhibition by both teams in the Black Hole. 11 Nov. 18 NEW ORLEANS (10-6, 6-2 road) vs. Texans 1-0 The Texans will face the Saints for the first time since the 2003 season when New Orleans heads to Houston on Nov. 18. The Saints were one of the best road teams in the NFL a year ago and fell just one game short of a Super Bowl appearance in head coach Sean Payton’s first season at the helm. Houston will be looking to even the all-time series at one after falling to the Saints in ’03, 31-10, at the Super Dome. The game will also feature the top two picks in the 2006 NFL Draft in Mario Williams and Reggie Bush. 12 Nov. 25 Cleveland (4-12, 2-6 home) vs. Texans 2-2 The Texans will face Cleveland for the fifth time in franchise history on Nov.25, more than any other team outside the AFC South. Houston defeated the Browns at Reliant Stadium in 2006 to end its season with a win for the first time in team history. A win over Cleveland in 2007 would be a third consecutive triumph over the Browns as the Texans defeated Cleveland 19-16 in 2005 at Reliant Stadium. 13 Dec. 2 Tennessee (8-8, 4-4 road, 4-4 home) vs. Texans 8-2 Turnovers killed the Texans last season in Nashville and Houston will be looking to avenge a loss in 2007 after thoroughly beating Tennessee in nearly every major statistical category a year ago. The Texans fell 28-22 to Tennessee at LP Field in their last visit to Music City, falling behind 21-3 before Sage Rosenfels led a valiant second-half comeback that fell just short. Houston had 427 total yards while Tennessee managed just 197, but in the end Houston couldn’t overcome five turnovers. 14 Dec. 9 TAMPA BAY (4-12, 1-7 road) vs. Texans 1-0 Like the Saints, Houston has only played Tampa Bay on the road previously and will be looking for its first win over the Buccaneers in franchise history. The Texans defeated the Buccaneers last season in preseason action, but lost to Tampa Bay 16-3 at Raymond James Stadium in 2003 in the only regular season meeting between these two teams. 15 Dec. 13 DENVER (9-7, 5-3 road) vs. Texans 1-0 The Texans will be looking for their first ever win over the Broncos when Denver heads to Reliant Stadium on Dec. 13 for a prime time matchup. The two teams have only met once previously, a 31-13, win for the Broncos in Denver during the 2004 season. Plenty of storylines go along with this matchup which is probably why NFL Network has decided to broadcast the game to a national audience. Gary Kubiak will be facing his mentor, Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan, for the first time in the regular season. However, Shanahan will also be coaching against his son, Kyle, who is the Texans quarterbacks coach. Houston’s roster is also littered with former Broncos so while these teams have met just once previously in the regular season, they will be quite familiar with one another when they take the field in mid-December. 16 Dec. 23 Indianapolis (12-4, 4-4 road) vs. Texans 9-1 One last chance to claim a win at RCA Dome. Houston is 0-5 in Indy against the Colts, who will be moving into a new home prior to the 2008 season. 17 Dec. 30 JACKSONVILLE (8-8, 2-6 road) vs. Texans 4-6 If the Texans are to make the playoffs for the first time in team history, a berth may come down to a matchup with their biter rival. The Texans have historically had the Jaguars number during their brief history. Six of the Texans’ nine division wins in franchise history have come against the Jags, only adding to this intense rivalry. *HOME games are in ALL CAPS

Divisional Games (in no particular order): IND1= W,L JAX= W,L TEN= W,L KC= L CAR= W ATL= W MIA= W SD= L OAK= W NO= L CLE= W TB= W DEN= L 9-7 according to this.

Really need your advices for what i should do now !!?
The first time i got a new cell phone was 1 month ago . There were a guy i really like at my highschool but we didn't even have enough time to talk and hang out together ( i was an international exchange student so i was always managed by my host family then always at home all the time ), so the best way i could talk with him to understand him more was texting with him , we had been texting everynight by our phones for 2 weeks before i was gone and my biggest mistake was i didn't think i had to pay so much money for it , i'm so stupid , am not i ? Today i have just received a bill to pay money , my mom and my uncle was mad at me , i am sad about that because of my mistake , my mom is going to help me to pay for it ( i am an exchange student so i don't work and have own money yet ) and that makes me feel so bad . it get worse when i think about my guy , he has to pay the same money for messages , like me , i feel too guilty . i shouldn't start texting so he doesn't have to pay like me

Don't be so hard on yourself. You didn't know how expenseive it was going to be. If you really feel badly about your mom paying, tell her that when you get a job you will pay her back. Even if it takes a long time, you'll feel better knowing you paid your debt. As for the guy... if he's not an exchange student, you can bet he knows how much texting costs. If you see him at school... make the time... and tell him that you were so surprised and feel badly that the texting cost so much. Good luck!

So you're on a game show...?
You are standing behind 3 doors. Behind 1 door is a prize. The other 2 doors cover nothing. Your goal is the prize. You don't know where the prize is located but the host knows where it is. The host asks you to make your decision; and you do. Before you manage to open your chosen door, the host steps up and opens 1 of the remaining 2 doors and shows you that there is nothing behind the door he just opened. He now asks you if you want to change your decision to open the other door. Would you change your mind and leave your original door and open the other possible door? Technical: all unknown variables unrelated to the predicament have been eliminated and all known constants still remain constant. Hint: think about the possible outcomes. Even draw a picture and count how many times you would be right/wrong if you stuck with your decision. That might sway some of you 50/50 people. Try to provide some logic as well, seeing that "going with your gut" isn't really a form of reasoning.

This was already done a zillion times on TV. the newly opened door increased my odds from one in three to one in two. I stick with my choice.

Party etiquette - I had to leave half-way thru?
A friend & neighbor threw a 60th b'day party for her dad, indoors on a winter evening. Grownups & kids. About 30 min into the party(after we'd had appetisers), some guests came with a dog. I am really scared of dogs. This dog was loose, running around, and really bothering people while owner/hosts looked on. It was pulling on my skirt, and trying to reach my plate while I was literally hanging on to my husband. The hosts made feeble attempts to confine it to a room or put it on a leash. They were as surprised as me, but couldn't say anything as dog-owner was an imp. business client. 20 min went by. Dog still loose, running wildly. No room I could hide in. I told the hostess I'd slip out for a while, take my toddler to see Xmas lights, and be back in time for cake. She was very offended. I gently but firmly left the party. Came back 1.5 hrs later. Apparently, they had managed to get the dog out of the way for cake cutting. She is still pissed off. I think I did my best. Did I? Hostess did know I am leaving becoz of dog, I mentioned it and added "to see Xmas" lights to make it easier for everyone around as to why I am leaving. There were about 45 guests.

you had every right to leave. I bet if the dog had bit someone then she would have still been offened because you would have sued. tell her next time instead of trying to impress her important client, she should worry about not catching a lawsuit because she don't know that dog either.
